When Pakistan achieved independence in 1947, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) emerged with only a modest fleet of aging aircraft and a small group of personnel. Despite these humble beginnings, it has grown into one of the most capable and strategically significant air forces in the world today.
Among the most legendary figures in PAF history is Air Commodore MM Alam. During the 1965 war, he achieved international acclaim by downing five enemy aircraft in less than a minute — four of them within just 30 seconds. This remarkable achievement remains a world record and a lasting symbol of aerial skill and combat brilliance.
A testament to Pakistan’s growing defense capabilities is the co-development of the JF-17 Thunder fighter jet with China — a proud milestone in the country’s defense capabilities heard about in recent war events along with the J-10C aircraft.
At the heart of PAF’s excellence is the Pakistan Air Force Academy, the premier institution for training the Air Force's future leaders. Nestled in the peaceful town of Risalpur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — along the historic Grand Trunk Road — the academy serves as a national hub of aviation expertise, technical education, and military leadership development.
